Mandy´s Lowertown Lets

Enjoying sheltered positions in the tiny hamlet of Lowertown on St Martins, Isles of Scilly, is The Locker and The Garden Chalet. Both properties are south facing and provide the perfect self-catering base from which to explore these perennially peaceful and beautiful islands.

The pace of life here on St Martins evokes memories of a bygone era and yet the properties proximity to one of the islands quays means that guests are conveniently located for transportation between the islands. The island Post Office and convenience store sells a good selection of groceries, there are also locally grown seasonal vegetables available from several road side stalls and local fish and shell fish can be purchased from Mandy's partner Ian, a local fisherman, during the season.

A wider selection of food and provisions can also be purchased from the main island of St Marys. Advance food orders can be arranged if required. The Isles of Scilly enjoy a mild year round climate influenced by the Gulf Stream ensuring that they hold a special charm whether it be summery days which often extend from early March to late October to dramatic seasonal storms and bright tranquil winter days during when the famous pre-Christmas blooms of daffodils and narcissi stud the islands fields.

Spring is a particularly beautiful time of the year here not least because it arrives so early heralded by an abundance of flora and the diverse traffic of migrant birds that make the islands such a popular destination for bird watching. Summers spent lazing on dozens of peaceful white sand beaches and boating between the islands can often evoke images of far more tropical global destinations.

The increasingly clement autumnal weather and Indian summers of recent years means that those who prefer holidaying in low season can often enjoy the islands in summer disguise deserted of the relative throngs of summer visitors. Fully heated, The Locker and The Garden Chalet are ideal as cosy comfortable hideaways at all times of the year.
